Princess Diana in Egyptian Museum, a 30-year-old historical visit

On October 31, 2022, late Princess Diana paid a visit to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
Princess Diana was mostly interested in viewing the Tutankhamun treasures and statues, which have gained significant reputation in England ever since Howard Carter uncovered the enormous tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922.
Princess Diana signed the visitor’s book to designate her visit as a significant occasion.

The princess had an interest for antiquities and archaeological artefacts, and the pictures that documented her journey to the Egyptian Museum showed how enamoured she was with both the young king’s treasures and ancient Egyptian artefacts in general.

The official page of the Egyptian Museum highlighted Princess Diana’s visit on May 14, 1992, publishing photos of her visit and her signature in the visitors’ register. This was done in honour of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb and from the record of official visits to the boy king’s treasures in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
