13 Egyptians were being smuggled into Libya illegally when the Libyan security forces discovered them in an embarrassing situation under the crates under the truck while bringing them to Tripoli.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Misurata City Security Directorate said that during a check of the truck carrying the 13 Egyptians at the “Double Gate” leading to Tripoli’s capital, it had discovered that they were being smuggled using the little boxes of the vehicle’s trailer.
She continued by saying that the truck driver and every immigrant on board were detained, and that all legal actions were taken and they were reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

The immigrants’ lives are in danger as evidenced by the photographs posted by the Misurata Security Directorate on its social media platforms. The immigrants are shown to be stretched and heaped on top of one another within truck boxes, without veins and in an inhumane and terrible manner.

This occurrence calls attention to the tactics of human trafficking networks and smuggling developed in Libya, where the practise of smuggling illegal immigrants thrives in order to evade censorship and conceal the police, even at the cost of these immigrants’ lives.
It also sheds light on the mistreatment and persecution of immigrants who are being smuggled in order to look for work.

And during the process of bringing them to the beaches of western Libya, hundreds of migrants died after suffocating in a closed truck in the city of Zuwara, western Libya, as a result of the length of their stay inside.
