Lebanon .. Parliament Speaker calls to discuss Aoun’s message about the dismissal of the government

News from Al-Madinah: Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, called on Monday in order to attend the meeting on Thursday to consider the President Michel Aoun’s message regarding the dismissal of the administration.
The parliamentary session will take place on Thursday at 11:00 p.m. Beirut time to recite the message of His Excellency the President of the Republic, according to a Berri office.

“According to a letter he handed on Sunday before departing the presidential palace a day before the end of his term, Aoun addressed a message to Parliament regarding the signing of the decree of the caretaker government led by Naguib Mikati.
Says Aoun “In accordance with my constitutional authority, I submitted a message to the House of Representatives today (Sunday) and I also officially announced the resignation of the government.

But Mikati countered in a statement that “the government will continue to carry out its constitutional obligations, including the conduct of business,” because “the decree that accepted the resignation of the government, resigned, in accordance with the provisions of the constitution, lacks any constitutional value.

In the case that a new president is chosen for the nation before the existing president’s term expires, the Lebanese constitution provides that the government shall assume control of the president’s authority.

In Lebanon, there is a dispute regarding the president’s authority because he resigned in accordance with the constitution after the legislative elections in May to assume responsibility for running the country’s business until a new government was formed.

Considering that the caretaker government did not submit her resignation to the nation’s president for him or her to accept or reject, many think that Aoun’s move is intended to prevent the caretaker government from convening during the period of constitutional vacillation.
Aoun Mikati was given the authority to establish a new government in July after receiving the votes of 54 of the country’s 128 parliamentarians; however, given the ongoing political divisions in Lebanon, he was unable to do so today.
