In the final match of the Champions League group stage on Tuesday against French team Marseille, Tottenham will be without the efforts of its Italian coach, Antonio Conte.
Following Conte’s decision to attend the press conference after being dismissed from the team last week against Sporting Lisbon, Pierre Emily Huyberg of Tottenham joined assistant coach Christian Stelini at the post-game news conference.
Harry Kane’s stoppage-time goal against Sporting, which resulted in a tie for both teams, was disallowed due to infiltration after returning to the supplemental video referee system, and Conte appeared upset about it (mouse).
Conte will be absent from the fourth group match against Marseille due to the suspension penalty.
“The coach is undoubtedly a big part of the squad,” said Huwberg. “Fortunately, he has a very good assistant device and players who are extremely aware of what he expects from them. We will strive with all our efforts to cover his absence.”
“I do not know, but I will say no,” he said, “if he will hide in the laundry basket like Jose Mourinho did with Chelsea in 2005 when pausing.
He emphasised: “He is a person who lives every match with enormous passion and heart. We must make sure that we are at the top of the readiness, which is what we are, and we must deal with the reality that he is not in the artistic field.
“For me, the scenario is not difficult; it is different, and we know what we have to do.,” he said in his closing remarks. “Focus on what is occurring on the field and what we have to do.”
Tottenham attempts to overcome Marseille in the Champions League in Conte’s absence.
