Arab leaders hold their first summit in Algeria in 3 years

Tuesday’s meeting of Arab leaders, the first in three years and with ongoing disagreements about the region’s problems, particularly those in Syria and Libya, will be hosted by Algeria.
The League of Arab States, which consists of 22 nations, held its most recent meeting in March 2019 in Tunisia, just before the Coveyd-19 pandemic began to spread. Several League of Arab States members, who historically supported the Palestinian cause, attended that summit.

After years of inactivity on the international stage due to the illness of former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Algerian diplomacy has resumed substantial activity since the election of President Abdel Majid Taboun at the end of 2019.
Algeria has made all the necessary arrangements for a prestigious welcome for the attendees at the summit, which is scheduled to begin at 18:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Tuesday and end on Wednesday night.

The main streets of the Algerian capital and government buildings were decorated with the flags of Arab countries, and huge banners commented on advertising paintings that welcomed “Arab brothers”.
And if the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is on the summit’s agenda, so are the conditions in Syria, Libya, and Yemen.

The term “Revival” was used by Algeria to promote this organization’s 31st summit, however many nations, particularly those in the Gulf, will not be represented by their leaders.

Algeria hosts the first summit of Arab leaders in three years.
