Veteran writer, novelist Bahaa Taher passes away at age of 87

CAIRO – 27 October 2022: After a protracted battle with sickness, veteran Egyptian author and writer Bahaa Taher passed away on Thursday at the age of 87.
On January 13, 1935, Taher was born in Giza Governorate. Between 1956 and 1957, he worked as a translator for the State Information Service. From 1957 to 1975, he was a radio director and presenter until being prohibited from writing.
Taher left Egypt and travelled to Africa and Asia, where he worked as a translator after being prohibited from writing.

Between 1981 through 1995, he resided in Geneva and worked as a translator for the UN before moving back to Egypt.
Among the most famous novels of Baha Taher are: “My Aunt Safiya and the Monastery” and “the Sunset Oasis”..

Veteran author and novelist Bahaa Taher dies aged 87 years old.
