The UAE’s strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 was emphasised by Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, who also emphasised that the ministry intends to begin the first review of the energy strategy at the beginning of next year 2023 in order to explore additional strategies and plans that aid in achieving this goal.
The review of the energy strategy includes expanding renewable energy and implementing new projects in areas like hydrogen energy and electrical energy as well as turning waste into energy with the study of solutions that It can be followed regarding the traditional methods of producing electricity to displace the current ones, the minister stated in an interview with the Emirates News Agency «WAM] on the occasion of the launch of the activities and conference of” ADIPEC 2022 “tomorrow in Abu Dhabi:
“The globe has observed noteworthy changes in recent years with relation to climate,” he continued, “and will contribute to revising the energy policy in figuring out the best combination for the UAE to achieve supplies security and attain carbon neutrality by 2050.”
explaining that with the entry of many new projects at full capacity, such as the Baraka Salami Nuclear Energy Stations, the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Energy Complex, Al Dhafra Solar Energy Station, and other strategic projects, the volume of the production capacity of electricity is currently up to about 35 GW distributed over Various Regions of the country and will rise in the coming years.
Al Mazrouei said that the ADIPEC exhibition and conference 2022 is considered one of the most important international events and a major station for decision makers, experts and specialists in the global energy sector, as it also includes more than 350 dialogue sessions in which more than 1,200 speakers include a large number of ministers, executives and decision makers. The ADIPEC expo and conference serves as a gathering place for the UAE’s energy future.
Beginning in 2023, the UAE’s Minister of Energy will launch a review of the country’s energy policy.
