The Palestinian Foreign Ministry warns of the dangers of calls to provide settlers with deadly weapons

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a warning against settlement societies’ requests to acquire more lethal weapons today, Saturday, in light of the apparent rise in the number of settler attacks on Palestinian residents of different West Bank locations.

In a press release, the ministry also noted that the phenomenon of armed settler militias and the protection of the occupation army for their provocative practises had never been more apparent. It also noted documented instances in which settlers had shot Palestinian residents, including those that took place in “Tawnana,” south of Hebron, the “Nablus” region, and other places.

The Foreign Ministry emphasised that in addition to being used by the occupying state to further its colonial ambitions as an essential component of an official policy based on the inclusion of the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the settler attacks are also used to intimidate and suppress Palestinian citizens and facilitate the theft of their land.

Calls to arm settlers with lethal weapons are dangerous, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry says.
