The majority of the Germans want more obstacles in the face of Chinese acquisitions

According to a new study, the majority of Germans want to impose further legal limitations on Chinese state-owned corporations that invest in German firms.
According to a poll released today, Saturday, by the “Insation” institute, which was hired by the German newspaper “Bild” to measure opinion indicators, 39% of Germans agree with this viewpoint, and 34% believe that such participation should be outright prohibited.

Contrarily, 17% of survey respondents favoured strengthening limitations on such acquisitions or outright banning them, and the remaining 11% did not state their view.
It is interesting that the German government was deeply divided last week over the partial acquisition plans of a Chinese business for a container station in the port of Hamburg, and that the German government ultimately chose to decrease China’s participation to 24.

9%, while “Cosco,” a state-owned Chinese corporation, sought to purchase 35%.

The majority of Germans favour adding greater barriers to Chinese purchases.
