The death toll from Mogadishu attacks

The Mogadishu assaults near the Ministry of Education in the capital city of Somalia, Mogadishu, reportedly left scores of people dead or injured, according to police and the official news agency.
The Ministry of Education, a busy junction, and a school were among the targets of the attack, according to the authorities, who claimed it was carried out by a terrorist youth group.

According to police spokesman Sadiq Dudish, “the young gang carried out two explosions at two o’clock in the afternoon that targeted civilians, including children, women, and elderly.”
The bombings had injured “dozens of civilians, including independent journalist Mohamed Issa Kona,” according to Sona, the government-run news agency.
The murder of a television reporter was also confirmed by the Somali Journalists Syndicate.

According to police officer Nour Farah, who spoke to Reuters, the ministry was struck by the first explosion, and the second explosion happened as people flocked to aid the injured and ambulances came.
Hassan, another police officer under the ministry’s protection, told Reuters that he had witnessed at least 12 fatalities and more than 20 injuries as a result of the Mogadishu attacks.

The two explosions happened minutes apart, according to a Reuters reporter who was at the explosion scene, and nearby windows were broken.
Following a few bangs, a tall column of smoke appears above the scene.
“The second explosion burned our ambulance as we arrived to transport the wounded of the first explosion,” Abdel -Qader Abdel -Rahman told Amin’s ambulance service to Reuters.
A motorist and an ambulance worker were hurt in the blast, he continued.
