Taiwan is looking to expand its participation in the international agencies and international organizations

Officials from the US and Taiwan met at a high level to examine measures to increase Taiwan’s involvement in international organisations and specialised agencies of the UN.

The meeting in Washington, according to the Taiwanese Central News Agency today, Saturday, was primarily focused on assessing the efforts made the previous year to support Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Association (the WHO Resolution Authority) in May and the International Civil Aviation Organization Association in September.

High-ranking representatives from the US State Department and Taiwanese ministries attended the meeting. The two sides agreed that they needed to increase cooperation with partners in places like Geneva, Montreal, New York, Pipe, and Washington in order to “raise awareness of Taiwan’s positive contributions to the international community.

Additionally, they discussed how to handle global challenges like public health, civil aviation safety, climate change, the environment, communications, intellectual property, economic cooperation, and freedom of religion or belief.
In accordance with its long-term foreign policy, the United States acknowledged Taiwan’s contributions to the world and reaffirmed its commitment to assisting Taiwan in attaining meaningful participation in international fora.

Taiwan wants to increase its involvement in international institutions and organisations.
