Search continues for one-month-old child missing in Laval, Que. river since Friday

A day after the infant’s car plunged into a river in Laval, Quebec, searchers for the missing one-month-old toddler resumed on Saturday. City police spokeswoman Erika Landry said provincial police divers and a helicopter joined the search, complementing boats from the local fire department.

She claimed that the youngster may have been taken for several kilometres by the current and asked those who live along the Mille-Iles river, which separates the island city of Laval from the mainland to the north and east.
She claimed there is still some hope for the baby to be discovered alive.

In a Saturday interview, she remarked, “Of course, we have a little optimism, but the time is against us, the more time goes, the more the odds go down.
On Friday, just before 5 o’clock, the youngster was riding in a car with his mother and sister, who was four years old.
According to Landry, the girl and the woman were saved.

The 30-year-old woman is still in the hospital, but Friday night saw the release of the other child.
Landry said police don’t know why the vehicle entered the water and violent crime investigators will meet with the mother when her health allows..

The one-month-old toddler has been reported missing in the Laval, Quebec, river since Friday.
