London woman who decapitated church friend gets 34 years in jail

A London lady who killed and beheaded a friend in exchange for her inheritance will serve at least 34 years in prison.
Mee Kuen Chong, 67, was killed by 38-year-old Jemma Mitchell in June of last year, and she will serve her sentence.
Judge Richard Marks KC reportedly said, “I am driven to the conclusion that you are highly cunning,” in remarks obtained by the Guardian.
“There is the chilling aspect of what you did to and with her body after you killed her.

The court had heard that the two had met through a church group, with Mitchell serving as Chong’s “spiritual healer.” Schizophrenia has been identified as Chong’s underlying mental illness.
Chong had offered to contribute funds for the improvements, but she later told Mitchell that she should sell the house and take the proceeds.
The house, which had been in Mitchell’s family for generations, had been in poor condition but was worth millions.

The prosecution claimed that the huge blue bag Mitchell was seen carrying to Chong’s house on CCTV footage contained a murder kit.
Mitchell transported the victim’s headless body nearly 300 kilometres away to Devon where she was dumped. It was discovered by tourists.
Her skull was found in undergrowth shortly afterwards.

Despite what the judge deemed to be overwhelming evidence against you, “you have showed absolutely no remorse and it appears you are in utter denial as to what you did,” the judge added.
The severity of your crime is deeply upsetting, made all the more so by your apparent devotion to religion and the fact that Deborah Chong was a close friend of yours and had treated you kindly.
The judgement was delivered last week, and Chong’s family was able to view it through video link.

“We still don’t know how she passed away. Has she been hurt? I’ll be troubled by this mystery forever, “Amy’s sister replied.
