The Speaker of the Council, Nabih Berri, received a message today, Sunday, from the Prime Minister-designate, Najib Mikati, informing him that the government will continue to conduct business and carry out all constitutional obligations in accordance with the constitutional texts and regulations that sponsor its work, following the President of the Republic’s resignation decree. This was confirmed by the Presidency of the Lebanese Parliament.

She said, “The President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, then sent a note to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, addressed to the parliament by its president, calling for a session of the Council to take the proper action.”

The Naguib Mikati administration submitted its resignation this morning, and Aoun signed a decree accepting it. However, the interim prime minister emphasised that the decree was not constitutional and had no provisions for resignation. a legal obligation to prevent emptiness.
