John Admz and Abeel’s messages .. 1000 messages tells the love story of an American president for his wife

Today marks the 287th birthday of former US President John Adams, an American politician who served as the country’s second president (1797–1801) and its first vice president (1789–1797). Adams, who is regarded as one of the country’s founding fathers and the head of the American Independence Movement against Great Britain, also kept a diary and wrote letters, particularly to his wife Abeel.

On October 25, 1764, John Adams wed Abyel Smith, an intelligent woman who advocated for the rights of African Americans and women.
Despite the fact that her husband spent a lot of time away from the house, Abeel played a significant role in shaping his political career as evidenced by their contracts for correspondence messages. One of the most notable Abeel messages was when John urged “remembering the women” because he was instrumental in establishing the new American government during the revolutionary war.

John Adams served in Congress in 1777. He wrote three letters to his wife Abeel, and they corresponded about a variety of subjects, including politics, military tactics, home economics, and family health.

When the Congress was moved from Philadelphia to Baltimore, John wrote to Abeel on March 7 to say that the city had lost its vitality and had become dull in comparison. Abeel had written to John in February to say she was looking forward to future letters from her devoted husband and expressed her desire for more patriotism and prosperity.

John and Ebigel Adams were inseparable at all times and sent love notes for the rest of their lives when they were divorcing. Abyel Adams was renowned for her role as her husband’s supporter. He was one of the founding fathers of the United States and her second superior.

According to historian James Taylor’s book “The First Ladies,” the pair exchanged notes once or twice a week and wrote each other over 1170 letters. The two also possessed unique pets in the names of each other, as Adams described referring to his wife as a “wonderful beauty queen” and “Diana” the goddess of hunting and Roman moon..
