Iranian-Canadians in London, Ont. protest against injustices in their home country

Tehran, Ontario’s Iranian- In Victoria Park, Canadians came to express their outrage at the injustices occurring in their homeland.
Many cars passed past while blaring their horns in unison as hundreds of people lined Richmond Street with banners and messages.
Sam Roodi, a protester and professor at Fanshawe College, claimed that “what’s happening in Iran right now is the product of 44 years of suppressed feelings and anger.”

We believe that this revolution is different from previous ones because it is being led by women, has a large student and worker participation, and is being led by women.
According to Roodi, there have been murders on Iranian streets. Iranians are pushing for a stop to it all over Canada.
“They are not just killing our people; they are also killing people in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. This is the mandate of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s constitution specifically states that they must export the Islamic Revolution throughout the world, according to Roodi.
40% of Iran’s economy is under the authority of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards. The goal of the demonstrations taking place across Canada is to make lawmakers aware of the problems.
“We are requesting action on that from the countries in the West. Their assets in Canada, the United States, and Europe ought to be frozen.

The Iranian administration is comparable to that of Russia. It’s oligarchy-like,” Roodi added.
These demonstrations take place every Saturday afternoon in London. They keep up their fight for attention.
Zardosht is hopeful that things will change despite feeling useless in Canada as Iranians struggle for their lives.
“I hope that the Canadian government will pay attention to our concerns. Supporting the Iranian regime and recognising it as our representative are both unacceptable.

With this government, the Iranian people are essentially held captive, according to Zardosht.
Peter Fragiskatos, a member of parliament for North London, showed up and spoke briefly to the crowd.
“I hear you as a local MP in the city, and the government hears you as well,” said Fragiskatos. The government has taken efforts to deal with the IRGC in recent weeks (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps).

We have implemented sanctions to freeze any assets that up to 10,000 IRGC members may have here, followed by their expulsion from the nation.
The crowd was assured by Fragiskatos that he will take the message back to Ottawa and bring it up in parliament.
The greatest way to contribute, according to Iranian Canadians, is to become informed about the situation, spread the word orally and via social media, and monitor the hashtags.
