Australian French citizen who is kidnapped in Chad

A French citizen from Australia was abducted on Friday along Sudan’s eastern border, according to a statement from the Chadian authorities released on Saturday.
Without providing further details, the Chadian officials said that the kidnapping occurred after the afternoon of October 28, 2022.
She emphasised that the Australian-Frenchman was employed by the “Desert Preservation Fund,” a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the preservation of wildlife, in an oryx reserve.

She is “in communication with his family and with the authorities in Chad with a view to facilitating his release promptly,” according to the French Foreign Ministry, which announced in Paris that it had been “advised of the kidnapping of one of our citizens in Chad.”
According to the organization’s website, the Desert Preservation Fund was founded in 2004 to fight the “catastrophic extinction” wave that “threatens birds and large mammals in Africa.” There are 77950 square kilometres in the reserve.

The government “mobilised all the security and human capabilities to arrest the kidnappers,” according to the Chadian authorities.
Chad is a non-coastal nation in the Sahel region that borders Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger, Libya, Sudan, and the Central African Republic. It has a total area of around 1. 3 million square kilometres.
