The Polish Foreign Ministry declared that following Russia’s withdrawal from the grain accord, Warsaw and its European Union allies are prepared to help Ukraine transport basic supplies even more.
The ministry also stated on its official Twitter account that Moscow’s withdrawal from the UN-mediated agreement that allowed Ukraine to export grains across the Black Sea “provides” further proof that Moscow is unwilling to support any international agreements, in line with an urgent news report from the British newspaper “Guardian.”
The United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, together with other friends of Kyiv, had denounced Russia’s decision to renege on the accord, which was set up by the UN and allowed for the sale of Ukrainian grains from three ports on the Black Sea.
The Bloomberg News Agency reported that the Supreme Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, urged Russia today, Sunday, to reconsider, even about what a Russian deputy said about Moscow’s readiness “to replace the Ukrainian grains completely. ”
After unmanned aircraft attacked its military ships in the Crimea, Russia suspended the deal.
According to the deal, Ukraine has exported roughly 9 million tonnes of food since last August, including wheat and corn.
Due to worries about demand, wheat futures finished last Friday at their lowest prices in five weeks. However, with the Russian move, they may rise once more.
In an effort to address the global food crisis brought on by its conflict with Ukraine, Russia decided to halt its participation in the Black Sea accord, which is the principal export of grains and fertilisers.
Following Russia’s decision to leave the grain accord, Poland is prepared to assist Ukraine in transferring essential supplies.
