In order to guarantee a stable and prosperous future for the region, the United States urged Kosovo and Serbia to take concrete steps to demonstrate their commitment to constructive cooperation. They also stressed the need to slow the pace of heated dialogue between them.
In a news release posted on its website on Friday, the US State Department emphasised the need for Kosovo and Serbia to work quickly and adaptably to obtain a complete agreement on the normalisation of relations that is centred on mutual recognition.
The statement claims that the United States is unhappy and worried about the Kosovo government’s request to prolong the time for implementing the system of switching automobile plates from neighbouring Serbia to panels from the Kosovo version being denied by Washington and its international allies.
According to the US State Department’s statement, the system has the right to be implemented, but the extension of the deadline is necessary to advance the conversation with the European Union about restoring normal relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
It is interesting to note that although Beljard is still on Serbia’s territory and supports a Serbian minority in Kosovo, Kosovo, the dairy, is a majority of its population that declared independence from Serbia in 2008 after separating from it in 1999.
A historically significant agreement to normalise relations between the two nations was signed on April 19, 2013, by Serbia and Kosovo.
The United States exhorts Kosovo and Serbia to take specific actions to demonstrate their dedication to cooperative relationships.
