Lapid: The border demarcation agreement with Lebanon is a major blow to Hezbollah

The agreement to demarcate the maritime borders between Israel and Lebanon was signed yesterday through American mediation, with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Labid repeatedly stating that this accord is historic.
Since Israel was named numerous times in the deal, he believed that Hezbollah and its arm would suffer a “major hit” as a result.

In a conversation with the “We have a contract that contains more than 20 references to the State of Israel in the Jerusalem Post” newspaper today, Friday. approval due to his lack of other options.
He remarked as well: “Because of the immediate necessity in Lebanon, we were able to arm Hezbollah and persuade them to take action that it otherwise would not have.

Additionally, he stated that it is untrue that by declining to make an agreement to vote in the Knesset, he waived a nation governed by Hezbollah or committed non-democratic conduct. He emphasised that “from the Supreme Court to the Council of Ministers, everyone endorsed the demarcation agreement.
He observed that “lying and deception” are Iran’s primary tools for pursuing its foreign policy.

He said he was cautious about speaking publicly on the latest events in Iran “so that the authorities there do not exploit them against the demonstrators.

In the presence of the American negotiator Amos Hoksin, the Lebanese and Israeli delegations signed the agreement yesterday in the border region of Ras al-Naqura, in southern Lebanon. Over Jendelman, the spokesman for the Israeli government, saw this as an express acknowledgement of his nation.

The negotiations, which began in 2020 but stalled several times before picking up steam at the beginning of June after the arrival of a production ship and storage close to the Karish field, which Lebanon had previously regarded as being in a disputed area, are noteworthy because reaching this consensus was not an easy task.

The Qana field, which extends beyond the line separating the two countries, has included for Lebanon while the Carrich field has become entirely on the Israeli side under the new deal.
Patch No. 9, where the French Total and Italian Eni businesses, which have been awarded contracts for oil and gas development, are focusing their exploration efforts on the Qana field.

Nevertheless, despite the deal, many analysts think Lebanon is still a long way from being able to extract its oil and gas reserves and that it may take five to six years.

While more than 80% of Lebanese have fallen below the poverty line and the Lebanese lira has lost more than 90% of its value against the dollar, the Lebanese government is relying on the existence of natural fortunes to help overcome the catastrophic effects of the economic collapse that the nation has been experiencing for three years. The World Bank has ranked it as one of the worst in the world since 1850.
