US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced today, Friday, that the US Department of State will give Ukraine an additional $ 275 million in military aid, including guns, ammunition, and equipment.
Blinken continued by saying that his nation is also striving to equip Ukraine with the necessary air defence capabilities through the NASS system, which was supplied by the US and will be delivered to Ukraine next month.
According to Reuters, he also said that Washington is coordinating with allies and partners to make it possible for Ukraine to receive its air defence systems.
Two American officials, who were familiar with last Friday, said that the upcoming security assistance package will be provided by the administration of President Joe Biden to Ukraine is expected to include ammunition and vehicles, and will amount to 725 million dollars, but it will not include new capabilities or air defenses.
Washington usually uses funds from the Ukrainian security assistance initiative to purchase weapons from manufacturing companies, instead of withdrawing them from current US weapons stocks, to finance weapons to Ukraine, including the NASS (NASS), which is expected to be sent this month.
And the American Raytheon Technologies and the Norwegian Kongesburg both manufacture the advanced air defence system (NASSSAS).
The latest addition brings the entire amount of US security assistance provided to Ukraine since the Russian operation started on February 24 to more than $17.5 billion.
