Hossam Zaki: The Palestinian issue is at the top of the Arab summit priorities in Algeria

Ambassador Hossam Zaki, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, emphasised the significance of the political issues raised on the agenda of the Arab summit in Algeria, which are representative of many Arab crises. He noted that the political portion of the summit deals with crises and problems, the most pressing of which is the Palestinian issue, and that a number of decisions will be made on behalf of Arab leaders, meaning the Palestinian issue is receiving increasing attention.

In press statements following the ministerial meeting of the Economic and Social Council today, Friday, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States stated that Algeria had contributed ideas for the growth and reform of the League of Arab States, and that all of them were directed at the leaders.

Regarding the Economic and Social Council, he noted that a draught resolution on a strategy for Arab food security that will be presented to leaders includes ideas and projects, characterising that summit. He emphasised the significance of finding appropriate financing for all of these ideas, pointing out that the agenda discussed by the Economic and Social Council included a number of economic and social files. “We have hope that we can get a significant portion of the finance to begin working on implementing a significant portion of the strategy,” was the suggested statement.

The Assistant Secretary-General emphasised that a strategy is being devised for the first time to address the risks associated with Arab food security, which is a significant issue that has gotten worse quickly and significantly since the Ukrainian-Russian war.

He noted that the Algerian state had taken it upon itself to make this summit a success and had provided it with all means of success. He claimed that Algeria gave all the capabilities to make the Arab summit a success, as well as all the facilities to move and the media.

“Frankness can stand at the point of frankness and does not happen compatibility, but what we found is that many decisions that were not at first enjoyed compatibility, but the discussion And the continued consultation,” Ambassador Hossam Zaki said in reference to the meetings of the delegates and senior officials.

We were able to get to the point where we could state that the countries had completed the majority of the agenda by working outside the hall in small groups that consulted about the formulations, ideas, and concepts.
He stressed that some issues would be presented to the foreign ministers for final decision and brought up during the summit.

Hossam Zaki: In Algeria, the Arab summit’s top issues are the Palestinian issue and the Syrian conflict.
