Family of Quebec girl who disappeared 14 years ago believes she may still be alive in Ontario

After going missing in Quebec more than 14 years ago, Marilyn Bergeron’s family and attorney think she might still be alive and residing in Ontario.
One year after her disappearance, a “important witness” claims there is grounds to think she might have been seen in Hawkesbury, Ontario, close to the Quebec border.
She was last seen leaving the family’s house outside of Quebec City on February 17, 2008. She was 24 at the time, which would make her 38 today.

A Hawksbury resident named Guy Salico revealed to reporters at a press conference on Friday that he called police a year after Bergeron went missing to report what he thought was an interaction with her. Bergeron’s parents and attorney Marc Bellemare were also there.
Salico claims that in December 2009, at around 2 or 3 a.m., Marilyn Bergeron allegedly rang his doorbell.

She was damp, fragile, and chilly when she arrived at our home because it was raining outside. He claims that when she declined his offer to transport her there, she left after approximately 15 minutes.

She was described as having a small jacket, blue jeans, a light, white T-shirt with a V-neck, and high-heeled shoes. She was blonde (at the time of her disappearance, she was brunette), appeared to be in her early 20s, spoke fluent English, did not appear to be impaired, and was very polite. The man claims he had no idea who she was until he connected her with the widely circulated images of the missing Quebec girl in the days that followed. He then reported the event to police, who he claims met with him at his home to talk about it.
Police declined to comment on the matter and were not present at the press briefing on Friday.
“What they’re doing with the (investigation) we don’t know,” the family’s lawyer said.

They claim that the investigation is still ongoing, but we require additional information.

Bergeron’s parents are requesting information from anyone else who may have seen their daughter in the years after she vanished. Her mother, Andree Bechard, told reporters, “I have hope.”

It will be kept anonymous, Bellemare assured, if someone in Ontario has something to say but prefers to talk to the family or me rather than the police.
Police in Quebec City announced on Friday that they would not be commenting on the matter.
