Candidates embark on bus tours ahead of Wisconsin election

WBAY: WISCONSIN – In an effort to win over voters ahead of Wisconsin’s general election on November 8, candidates have started bus tours.
On Friday, Wisconsin’s Democratic Governor Tony Evers and Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson began their campaign.
Tim Michels, a businessman and Republican, is challenging Evers. Nelson Barnes, a Democrat, is Johnson’s opponent.

As part of his “Doing the Right Thing” Bus Tour, Evers made stops in Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, Appleton, and Manitowoc on Friday. Along with Josh Kaul, the nominee for attorney general, who is up against Republican Eric Toney, was joined by Sara Rodriguez, the contender for lieutenant governor, who is fighting against Republican Roger Roth.
Evers intends to take further action the following week. He’s campaigning on funding for mental health and the middle class.

According to Evers, “We’re going to increase money for children who need mental health care, we’re going to give our towns more resources so they can do their jobs, and honestly, we’re also going to lower taxes for the middle class.”
Sen. Ron Johnson of the Republican Party began his bus tour in Franklin on Friday morning. He was joined by Republican Rep. Bryan Steil, Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, and Florida Sen. Rick Scott.

During a layover in Fond du Lac, Michels joined Johnson.
The senator urged citizens to cast ballots.
“So once more, encourage everyone you speak with to vote when you chat to them. Ask them to join us in helping to heal, unite, and save this magnificent nation we name America if they love it and care about its future.
Before election day, Johnson will travel more than 3,000 miles while stopping at more than 60 locations throughout Wisconsin.

Next week at 6:30 p.m., Action 2 News will be airing many election-related specials.
