One of the most well-known terrorist organisations on the coast and a close ally of “Al Qaeda,” “victory of Islam and Muslims,” has said that its Monday attack on a military camp in Burkina Faso’s north enabled it to free roughly sixty detainees.
The “triumph of Islam and Muslims” claimed credit for the attack on this military base, according to a statement that was obtained and translated by the Site website, which keeps track of radical Islamic groups.
The organisation declared “ten troops” dead and “67 detainees freed.” Additionally, it was revealed in the statement that the terrorists acquired more than 400 light weapons.
Armed terrorists with ties to al-Qaeda assaulted Jibu’s fourteenth weapon regiment early on Monday. The Burkina Faso army said that ten soldiers were killed and around 50 were injured, but claimed to have killed 18 “terrorists.”
The jihadists have been blocking access to the city of Gibu by blasting bridges over the main thoroughfares.
The situation in this city in northern Burkina Faso is reportedly unstable, and because food is in short supply, locals occasionally have to subsist on salt and greenery.
On September 26, gunmen ambushed a vehicle carrying supplies to Gibo.
The incident resulted in the deaths of 37 persons, including 27 troops, for which the “victory of Islam and Muslims” claimed responsibility.
