Zimbabwe announces the tightening of security near the Russian embassy after the shooting

Following the killing of a security guard at the Russian embassy in Harari yesterday, Wednesday, who then shot the culprit, the Zimbabwean police announced today, Thursday, that they had decided to increase security measures there. According to Paul Niathi, the assistant police commissioner in Zimbabwe, “the police have tightened security measures around the Russian embassy in the capital Harari after a shooting incident that occurred yesterday evening Wednesday,” he told Sputnik today, Thursday.

The security officer continued, “The investigations will continue, and the fire will be followed by a statement on the motivation.
Today, the local newspaper “The Herald” reported that a person was shot by a security man at the Russian embassy at about seven in the evening (local time) and was transferred to the “Parrenaoa Hospital”, describing his condition as dangerous.

He stated that the identity of the young man is still unknown and that the police began investigations to find out the circumstances of the accident and the cause of the man’s approach to the policeman. The suspect, who is 24 years old and receiving treatment, was revealed by the police in a statement.

After the shooting, Zimbabwe announced increased security in the area of the Russian embassy.
