Doctor and author Nawal Al-Saadawi was referred to as the brave battles because she fought for what she believed in for women’s rights over the course of more than fifty years. Her fight against circumcision was one of her most intellectual battles.

Born on October 27, 1931, Nawal Al-Saadawi is one of the most significant Egyptian writers of the second half of the 20th century. During this time, she engaged in numerous intellectual conflicts with tenacity and a steadfast and courageous stance.
Her professional life began in 1955, and two years later she focused on her creative endeavour to share her thoughts, resulting in the publication of her debut story collection, “learned love,” in 1957.

When she published the book “Women and Sex” in 1968, the Arab world first heard of her. She produced a sensation, made a lot of enemies among those who disagreed with her beliefs, and from that point on, she established a reputation as an academically contentious woman.

More than fifty different works by Nawal Al-Saadawi, including novels, short stories, plays, and biographies, demand the release of women from all types of slavery and equal rights for women in all spheres of life, including social and political ones.
Dr. Nawal Al-Saadawi took care of all the issues that affect the woman who is with her at all stages of age and psychology, including those that are specific to her personal life as a girl, young lady, housewife, worker, and student.

The thorny lady requires correct treatment that identifies the root reasons and offers solutions because her problems started the moment she was born and will continue throughout her life.

This was also covered in her well-known book “Women and Sex,” where she concentrated on one of the issues and problems that plagued and still plague the entire society: the relationship between women and sex and the stages and problems that it developed into. She did this by identifying the woman’s body from an anatomical and physiological point of view, identifying the psychological factors that affected her, and offering some experimental solutions to these issues.

Nawal Al-Saadawi passed away on March 21, 2021, after battling stomach ulcers, severe difficulty swallowing, and other health issues.
