Family, friends of couple found dead near Summerland, B.C. speaking out

Speaking out and seeking clarification are the relatives and friends of a couple who were discovered dead close to Summerland, British Columbia, last month.
The bodies of Douglas (Doug) Barker and Alannah Brown, both 30 years old, were discovered on a paved road on September 15. This location was just outside the Summerland Research Center’s back gates.
Some of the last people to see her uncle Barker alive were Isabelle Dery.
He expressed his affection for them before passing away, according to Isabelle.

The girls’ mother, Brittany Harris, claims that Barker and Brown were the last people the girls saw on September 11 when he paid a visit to their house.
“He came over and started talking to us, saying he needed a bed and wanted to find employment. We therefore had a spare bed, and he was due to return in a few days. He failed to appear. He never abandoned the resume that he claimed, according to Harris.
The family filed a missing persons report and began a fervent campaign looking for Barker.

But days later, his body was discovered.
Initially responding to reports of a small fire in the area was the Summerland Fire Department. Before calling the police, they arrived at the spot and found the two bodies.
“Since he left, things have been pretty difficult. It’s incredibly difficult to watch my daughters cry every night, said Harris.
“In the end, we bid him farewell yesterday. He was my closest buddy and would sacrifice anything to help us.

The RCMP Serious Crime Unit in British Columbia is still looking into both murders, but the family claims they have been kept in the dark and simply wants answers.
“Honestly, nothing much has been heard from his next of kin. Like we have no idea what is happening right now. They initially communicated with us sparingly before suddenly disappearing, according to Harris.
“I only desire fairness. I’m curious to know what transpired. I want to be able to say goodbye to him quietly.

He and Alannah both deserved more than this.
According to a statement made by Brown’s acquaintance, Alannah was a “kind, caring spirit.”
“Alannah was a dazzling star, and she will be sincerely missed by so many people. She absolutely did not deserve what happened to her.”
While all was going on, Isabelle and Neveah Dery recalled Barker as the “greatest uncle in the world.”
He was an incredibly kind and gregarious individual.

Every time I was harmed, he would always offer me his shirt and dab it,” Neveah recalled. “He always liked to smile.
I’ve been heartbroken about his passing for the past few weeks, to be honest.
Isabelle, her sister, continued by saying that she liked playing tag and singing with Doug.
He was one of our best uncles, if not the best. When he went away, it was kind of sad, remarked Isabelle.
RCMP have not shared if there are any suspects and a possible motive at this time is unknown.

The RCMP was contacted by Global News for more details, but they declined our request for an interview.
