On the forty-first anniversary of the execution of the young woman, Muhsa Amini, the passionate protests in western Iran resumed today, Thursday, following a turbulent day there yesterday.
In the northwest of the country, in the city of Mahabad in the Azerbaijani Governorate, thousands of people took to the streets as some irate citizens approached the local police.

In contrast, the security forces opened fire on the protesters, killing a young man, according to a report from the non-governmental Hancao human rights organisation.
The young Kurdish man was shot in the forehead directly, killing him.
While the Revolutionary Guard officer’s death during the protests was reported by the official Fars Agency.

Thousands of people marched yesterday, against the warnings of the security forces, to the burial of the young Amani in the town of Saqz (her hometown), sparking enormous protests in the Kurdistan governorate in the west of the nation.

It is significant that the Kurds in the area hold a strong sense of symbolism for the city of Mahabad in the western province of Azerbaijan, where a Kurdish republic was established under the leadership of (Judge Muhammad) during the Second World War before being overthrown by the Shah after the war.

Since the 22-year-old Kurdish woman’s death on September 16, three days after her detention by the Ethics Police while visiting Tehran with her younger brother, on the grounds that she had disobeyed the country’s rigorous dress codes, protests have continued around the nation.

According to numerous confirmed Analysts and observers over the past six weeks, her death sparked unheard-of protests in Iran three years ago, frequently presented by young men, young women, and students in a political message and challenge to the authorities, and an affirmation that the young segment or what is known as the generation “Generation Z” in Wadi and the authorities in another valley.
