New editions of Tariq Imam’s novels “The Calm of Bill,” “My Abi Mausoleum,” and “The widow writes letters secret” are published by Dar Al-Shorouk Publishing.
The publisher Dar Al-Shorouk had a contract with novelist Tariq Imam to publish fresh editions of both his most well-known literary works and narrative works.
A book on subdued killers
To create a new poem with each victim, he kills “Salem,” the absent serial murderer from his dreams, with his right hand, leaving lines of blood that are alive in the city’s expansion. And driven with a strange certainty, “Salem” finds an ancient manuscript of an unknown old hermit, who becomes his personal prophet, leads his soul, and takes his manuscript a sacred book that manages his empty life.
My Father’s Mausoleum by Tariq Imam is set against the backdrop of an imagined, bizarre, and violent Egyptian city and features a remarkable scientist, the protagonist, and the engine in which a mystic guardian resides inside his shrine.
A kid born to the guardian from one of the city’s poor is raised conflicted between the holiness of his father and the spiritual talent he bestowed upon the populace and the defilement of his mother, who was murdered inexplicably not long after he was born.
He finds himself crowned by the men of the “method” and the followers of his father as the son and heir to the Holy Man, just as he finds himself accused by his father’s opponents as the son of infidelity, with no right even to get a name, until the day comes when his father decides to die. A long road leads to the imposing mausoleum from public graves where his mother rests without a remembrance.
And in between the brackets, the torn son grapples with all the issues surrounding his existential and cultural identity in an unsettling reality. The actual time of the narrative event is in a few hours.

His most notable works include “The Calm of the Burns,” “The Second Life of Constantine, Kafafis,” “The widow writes the speeches discreetly,” “My father’s shrine,” “Taste of Sleep,” and “Cairo Maket.” He was born in 1977 and has written 12 books, including novels and story collections.
Numerous prizes, including the Sawiris Prize twice, the State Encouragement Prize, the Souad Al-Sabah Award, the Spanish Word Museum Award, and his novel “MacTate Cairo” made the short list of the Booker Award for Arabic Novel in its 2022 session, were bestowed upon Tariq Imam’s works.
