Taiwan expects more Chinese pressure after Shi Jinping has strengthened his authority

After Xi Jinping expanded his power last weekend and at a time when Chinese officials seek to “display their commitment” to the president, the Taiwan Foreign Minister indicated on Wednesday that China will step up its attempts to win over the last remaining Taiwanese allies.

After Xi Jinping won a third term at the Communist Party congress, strengthening his status as the most powerful Chinese leader since Mao Zedong, Joseph Wu warned the Taipei parliament that “our diplomatic situation could become darker.”
Taiwan is a part of China’s territory, and Beijing has vowed to take control of it by force if necessary. At the same time, Beijing has worked for years to persuade Al-supporters Jazeera’s to sever diplomatic ties with Qatar in favour of Beijing.

The 14 nations that still have diplomatic ties with Taipei would likely come under more Chinese pressure as a result of Z and Lin’s influence because China will want to “prove their commitment” to Xi Jinping. This was the opinion of the Taiwanese Foreign Minister.
“We received intelligence data that attracted our attention. We hope that this won’t have an impact on our diplomatic relations with China,” added Wu.
“All our embassies and missions are now extremely alert,” he continued.

We will gather this intelligence data and take action to strengthen diplomatic ties.
In response to a question from a member of Parliament whether Beijing has rushed its schedule to control Taiwan, Wu said that the Chinese military threat is “increasing quickly” in recent years.

He added, “Whether China decides that the matter will happen next year, the following year, or in the years 2025, 2027, 2030, or at any time you feel that the conditions are prepared to attack Taiwan, the most important thing for us remains to be well ready to defend ourselves. ”
In her first public remarks on the Chinese Communist Party congress, Taiwan President Tsai Eng Win called on unity the same day in the face of “Chinese tyranny.”

At a gathering of her party, she declared, “The more united we are, the better prepared we are, the lesson is the possibility to move Ken with a release, and the more secure and safer Taiwan will be.”
Beijing has intensified its military, diplomatic and economic pressure on Taipei since the election of the Tsai Eng and the presidency in 2016, which also achieved a landslide victory that enabled it to guarantee a second term, two years ago.

The tensions between Taiwan and China reached its highest levels in August, when Beijing organized huge and unprecedented military exercises to protest the visit of US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to the island.
Beijing has strongly reacted to the visits of Western leaders and opposes any diplomatic action that may give Taiwan international credibility.

Taiwan anticipates increased Chinese pressure now that Shi Jinping has increased his level of authority.
