Statistics Canada to provide updated look at immigration data, religious diversity

In a fresh round of data from the 2021 census, Statistics Canada intends to present an updated analysis of immigration statistics as well as our ethnocultural and religious diversity.
In the five years the data covers, Canada is likely to have received a record number of immigrants, according to the announcement.
The StatCan data will also include details about where immigrants intended to live and a breakdown of which government programs people are using to enter the country.

Additionally, data on internal migration is anticipated, which will show how many Canadians from bigger cities fled the city for the country during the early stages of the COVID-19 epidemic due to housing costs and quality of life concerns.
According to Statistics Canada, information on ethnocultural diversity will henceforth refer to “racialized groups” rather than “visible minorities” for the first time, reflecting how Canadians view their ancestry.

The most recent census data release also contains information on religious affiliation, which is only reported on every ten years.

An updated look at immigration data and religious diversity will be provided by Statistics Canada.
