Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni won the first confidence vote in the House of Representatives by a large majority, indicating that she will be able to implement her agenda as long as her coalition remains united, according to Bloomberg News Agency on Tuesday.
Meloni voted for 235 out of 400 members of the House of Representatives after summoning her programme in a letter that was sent an hour earlier in the day.
Tomorrow, on Wednesday, Meloni must face a similar vote in the Senate, which will be the last step in assuming power.
The “Brothers of Italy” party, the “League” party led by Matteo Salvini, and the “Foreza Italy” party led by Silvio Berlusconi are all members of the right-wing Melonian coalition that won the election on September 25.
The Meloni government will face a number of difficulties in the upcoming weeks, including helping consumers who are impacted by high energy and high inflation.
Meloni receives strong support in the initial vote of confidence.
