Meghan Markle discusses ‘angry black woman’ stereotype on podcast

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, considers herself “particular,” but not “difficult” or “demanding.”
On the most recent episode of her podcast series, the 41-year-old Duchess and Issa Rae explored the stereotype of the “angry black woman,” with Meghan adamant that there is nothing wrong with establishing firm limits.
Speaking on her Archetypes podcast, Meghan told Issa: “I’m particular.

“I think a high tide raises all ships – we’re all going to succeed, so let’s make sure it’s really great because it’s a shared success for everybody. But I also know that I will find myself cowering and tiptoeing into a room – I don’t know if you ever do that, the thing that I find the most embarrassing – when you’re saying a sentence and the intonation goes up like it’s a question. And you’re like, ‘Oh my God, stop!’
“Say what you need instead of huddling close and whispering.

You are permitted to establish boundaries and to be forthright. You don’t become demanding or difficult as a result. It clarifies who you are.”
Issa was subsequently questioned by Meghan, who has two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 16 months, with Prince Harry, over whether she believes she is “allowed to be upset in some moments.”
The 37-year-old Issa, who created and starred in the HBO sitcom “Insecure,” responded: “Without a doubt.

Because I can’t lose my temper, I can’t do that, especially now that I’m a public figure and a black woman. Because people are trying to rationalise how they feel about you.
“This does not imply that I never get furious. That might mean that I will vent my frustrations to someone that I trust, get it out of my system and then go in fix mode. “.
