Due to the torrential rains, the Malaysian police reported the rescue of approximately 30 members of a film team who were trapped in a rocky cave in the country’s north.

According to Mohamed Yousry Hassan Basri, the head of the state police, who was quoted by a local publication, the crew became stuck inside when heavy rains caused the water level to rise by roughly 1.5 metres close to the cave’s mouth.
The imprisoned individuals were “a film crew produced by Singaporean,” he continued. He said there were 80 people, but most of them managed to escape, except for 30 people, including local and Singaporean residents.

He emphasised that after two hours of notification from the authorities, all of the crew members who were stuck were rescued and carried out of the location with no injuries.
The Timburong cave is significant because it is about 3 kilometres long and is thought to be the longest and largest rock cave on the Malaysian Peninsula. It is a popular vacation spot.
