Google .. a “huge” fine due to practices that harm the competition in India

The authority went on to say that Google exploited its “dominant position” to force applications to utilise its application’s payment system, noting that selling digital goods through the application is a crucial way for developers to make money from their work.

This move represents the most recent relapse for Google in one of its priority markets after the Indian Authority fined the company another $ 162 million on Thursday for engaging in unfair competition with respect to its Android operating system and requesting that it alter its strategy in that regard.
A Google spokeswoman remarked, “By maintaining low costs, our methodology has helped to the development of digital India.”

He continued, “We are still dedicated to our consumers and developers, and we are reviewing the decision to assess the next course of action.
The case can be reopened by the American technology behemoth in an Indian court.
Additionally, the Indian Authority required Google to make eight operational changes in three months, including a failure to prohibit “the developers of applications from the use of any third-party bills processing services, either for purchase within the application or to purchase applications.”

“Google has been under fire from critics all around the world, including in South Korea, for allowing programmers to use its application store to make payments via the application, which charges fees of up to 30% on sales.

Due to actions that hurt the competition in India, Google was hit with a “huge” punishment.
