Villarreal announced that it has officially contracted the former technical director of the Spanish team of Barcelona, to take over the team to succeed the recently dismissed Unai Emery to lead the Aston Villa team.
According to the Villarreal Club’s official website, Kiki Citin’s contract with the club runs through 2024, at which point he will serve as the team’s manager for the remainder of the current season as well as the following one.
Citin took over Barcelona on January 13 of 2020, when he led Barca to win his first appearance against Granada with a goal without charge, while in the first match in the Champions League against Napoli, he tied with a goal for each of them.
During this time, Setin oversaw the Catalan squad for 217 days in 25 matches across all championships, leading them to 16 victories, 4 ties, and 5 losses.
Following the historic 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals, Barcelona had announced that Cetin had been fired from his position.
Kiki Setin, a former Barcelona coach, is officially in his second season as Villarreal’s head coach.
