Tuesday, the European Commission urged Rishi Sonak, the incoming British prime minister, to give “full” adherence to the accords reached with the EU following Brexit, particularly those pertaining to customs policies in Northern Ireland.
Ursula von der Layen, president of the UNHCR, congratulated Sonak in a tweet and stated that “in these tough times of our continent, we are banking on a robust connection with the United Kingdom to preserve our common values, with full dedication to our accords.”
According to Marus Sevkovic, the European Commissioner in charge of relations with the United Kingdom after Brexit, “I am still determined to work extensively and constructively to support such a partnership, with full respect for our agreements. This includes our efforts to find cooperative solutions under the Protocol of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
“Rishi Sonak” is urged by the European Union to comply by the Brexit arrangements.
