Study: Eating a snack of almonds promotes the health of the intestine

According to Neuroscience News, a recent study showed that consuming a snack of almonds every day stimulates the creation of healthy gut bacteria, improves bacteria, and benefits health.
In a study that was completed and reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, a team of researchers from Kings College London looked at how full and flat almonds affected the makeup of the gut bacteria.

The intestinal microbium is made up of a variety of bacteria that live inside the intestine. These substances are necessary for the digestion of nutrients and can either be beneficial or harmful to our health, including the immune and digestive systems.
Regardless of how the intestine’s microbiome affects human health, evidence suggests that eating certain foods can have a positive impact on the sorts of bacteria in our intestines or what occurs there.

The researchers enlisted 87 healthy adults who routinely consumed unhealthy snacks and were already eating less dietary fibre than is advised (such as chocolate and potato chips).
The participants were split into three groups: one group switched to 56 grammes of whole almonds daily, another to 56 grammes of ground almonds daily, and the control group had similar cakes with energy as a control component for the course of the four-week trial.

And by generating short sebaceous fatty acids, gut bacteria also affect human health.
The main author of the study, Professor Kevin Willian, Head of the Department of Nutrition Sciences, said that these molecules act as a fuel source of cells in the colon, as they regulate the absorption of other nutrients in the intestine, and help balance the immune system.

The researchers found that those who ate almonds had significantly higher levels of good bacteria in their intestines than those who ate cakes.
The intestinal membrane is sturdy and efficiently absorbs nutrients because the almond fosters the ideal environment for the intestine’s microorganisms to flourish.
The research findings also imply that eating almonds may be beneficial for people who are constipated.

The tests showed that eating whole and crushed almonds improved the diet for people, as eating larger quantities of monounsaturated fatty acids, fiber, potassium and other important nutrients compared to the other group.
Additionally, eating almonds may enhance bacterial metabolism in a way that has the power to affect human health.

According to a study, consuming almonds as a snack helps keep the intestines healthy.
