On the margins of the 24th Forum for Gas Exporting Countries meeting in Egypt, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Schulganov and his Qatari colleague Saad bin Sheridah Al-Kaabi reviewed the global energy and investment market for gas projects.
According to Chulginov, Qatar and Russia have both unanimously agreed to open up the global energy market without any restrictions or choices that are at odds with market principles.
Long-term gas contracts, according to the Russian Minister of Energy, are one way to draw capital to gas projects and operate as a safety net for supply and demand as well as market stability.
