To advance to the second round of the Champions League with the Italian team Napoli, Liverpool must overcome Ajax in Amsterdam on Wednesday. If Napoli defeats its opponent Glasgow Rangers, a draw will be acceptable.
Rangers is at the bottom of the standings with no points, while Napoli is in first place overall with 12 points from 4 victories.
If Napoli defeats Rangers, Liverpool’s second will require 9 points to only 1 point of their matchup in Amsterdam in front of their host Ajax (3 points) in order to catch the qualified.
Prior to their most recent matchup at “Anfield Road” stadium on November 1, the Reds’ win will still be based on their aspirations of taking the lead from Naples.
Darwin Nunez, a Uruguayan striker for Liverpool who missed Saturday’s league defeat to Nottingham Forest due to a knee injury to the tendons, is expected to return, according to manager Juergen Klopp.
Darwin should play again because the Nottingham game was relatively early in his schedule, but I believe he would have benefited from an additional day of rest. At the very least, this is what I am aware of right now.
If Ajax loses against Liverpool, his chances of qualifying are over. If they tie Rangers, the third place finisher will qualify for the final price supplement for the Champions League “Europa League” with the Dutch team.
Nunez needs to accompany Napoli to the second round, and Liverpool is waiting for him.
