Gulf lottery 25 put Saudi Arabia against Iraq in the first group

In the first group, the draw for the 25th Arab Gulf Football Cup (Gulf 25), which was cancelled today (Tuesday) in Basra Governorate, Iraq, stood in the Iraqi counterpart’s face with hospitality.
The Iraqi team, which is hosting the competition, placed first in the first group of the lottery, while the Bahraini team, the reigning champion, placed first in the second group.

The lot’s outcomes were as follows:
Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Oman make up the first group.
Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the Emirates make up the second group.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, the president of the Qatar Football Association and the Arab Gulf Football Cup, was among the notable figures present at the drawing event.
Between January 6 and January 19, Basra will host the 25th Gulf Championship.

Iraq will host the championship for the second time in its history after the first in 1979, when it hosted the fifth edition in the capital, Baghdad, at the International People’s Stadium and crowned its title.
Every two years, the Arab Gulf Football Cup will be held; the first edition took place in Bahrain in 1970, and the most recent one occurred in Qatar in 2019.

Kuwait has won the championship the most times (10 times), followed by Qatar (3), Saudi Arabia (3), Iraq (2), the Sultanate of Oman (2), the United Arab Emirates (2), and Bahrain (1).

Saudi Arabia and Iraq are in the first group after winning the Gulf Lottery 25.
