Cambridge residents vote for change, elect Jan Liggett new mayor

On Monday night, Cambridge citizens cast their votes for change as Jan Liggett was declared the city’s unofficial mayor.
The unofficial results published on the municipal website show that the former Ward 4 councillor defeated incumbent Kathryn McGarry by just over 1,000 votes.
McGarry was not the only incumbent to lose their seat on council as Ward 2 Coun. Adam Cooper dislodged Shannon Adshade.

Ross Earnshaw has been informally chosen to succeed Liggett in Ward 4 after finishing much ahead of Clifford Vanclief, Usman Lalva, and Barbara Harrington.
Pam Wolf, a former councilwoman from Ward 5, elected to run for regional councillor; Sheri Roberts, who defeated Amanda Maxwell, will now serve in her place.
Jim Karahalios finished third in Ward 5, as did his wife Belinda in Ward 3.

Corey Kimpson defeated the former Cambridge MPP in the campaign to succeed Mike Mann, who is stepping down, with Nate Whalen coming in second.
In a city where 28.8% of eligible voters cast ballots, the remaining incumbents were re-elected.
