Weinstein facing new trial over more sexual assault claims

Harvey Weinstein’s second trial in Los Angeles has started, and prosecutors are setting out their case in an effort to jail him for even longer.
The movie producer, who worked on blockbusters including Pulp Fiction and Heavenly Creatures, had to answer to the public as claims of a long history of sexual misconduct started to surface in 2017.
Weinstein was found guilty of rape and sexual assault in a New York trial that took place two years ago, and he is currently serving a 23-year term.

He is currently being sued on similar grounds by five women.
Given the current circumstances, it seems unlikely that the California case will result in any more jail time for him. Weinstein, however, has made the case for an appeal against his 2020 verdict, and if successful, he might not have to spend any more time in jail.
In that instance, the only verdict in the Los Angeles trial that would result in him doing more time in prison is a guilty verdict.

Weinstein will go on trial again for additional allegations of sexual assault.
