Ontario municipal election 2022: Hamilton results

Nine candidates for mayor, including incumbent Mayor Fred Eisenberger, are among the 91 persons who have registered to vote in Hamilton’s municipal election in an effort to have a say on council.
In June, Eisenberger said he will not stand for reelection on October 24.
It indicates that the mayor who served the longest following the amalgamation will step down after serving three terms.

Six wards will have new council members after this coming Monday, with incumbent Sam Merulla of Ward 4, Brenda Johnson of Ward 11, Lloyd Ferguson of Ward 12, Terry Whitehead of Ward 14, and Judi Partridge of Ward 15 among those who are not running for re-election.
Following Chad Collins’ departure for federal politics and Russ Powers’ decision not to seek for Collins’ seat in 2022, Ward 5 will also have a new representative.
Whitehead’s Ward 14 seat is up for election, and seven people are running.

Wards 4 and 5 have the most candidates running for a council seat, with 11 people fighting to represent voters in each area.
Wards 7 and 13 both have just two candidates, including the incumbents Esther Pauls and Arlene VanderBeek.
