Energy debts flood more than 2 million Britons in 2022

More than two million Britons are in debt due to energy prices, according to statistics from OffGem, which reveal that 234,7511 families in the UK are behind on their electricity payments and that there are over 1. 9 million families who are behind on their gas payments.

The numbers increased by about a quarter in three months, and about two -thirds since the end of 2020, and a report from Stepchange Charitable Foundation indicates that the percentage of late electricity bills increased by 6% in the third quarter of the year, as it increased from 28% in the first quarter to 34% in Third quarter.
According to the most recent data, roughly 32% of consumers are paying their gas bills late, an increase from 29% in the first quarter.

The spike in the number of people who are late on their gas or electricity bills, according to Peter Smith, is “quite disturbing,” but it is also not unexpected given that the UK has experienced a sharp increase in rates in recent months.

It is expected that the value of energy bills will increase more and more with the approaching winter, prompting British newspapers as well as the government to carry out campaigns to rationalize consumption, such as reducing the degree of heating in rooms from 20 degrees Celsius, to only 19 degrees.
The Guardian also suggests that heating should be directed at individuals rather than buildings, offering suggestions including isolating the top level and altering how some electrical equipment are used.

Over 2 million Britons will be burdened by energy debt in 2022.
