According to a recent study, taking cholesterol-lowering drugs regularly may lower the risk of dying from Corona’s disease.
According to the American Heart Association, one in four people over the age of forty take cholesterol drugs to reduce it and reduce the risk of heart attacks, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
While there isn’t a “miracle cure” for patients with severe Corona virus, cholesterol-lowering medications can help reduce inflammation, which may lessen the severity of the illness.
“The results of our study clearly revealed that the frequent use of cholesterol medications is connected to lowering the risk of death and enhancing outcomes in Corona patients in hospitals,” the lead author continued.
The team examined the electronic medical records of 38,875 patients who were admitted for Covid-19 in 185 hospitals across the United States between January 1 and September 30, 2020, for the study, which was presented at the annual anaesthesia symposium in 2022.
Statin users among these patients who routinely took 30% statin medications to treat high cholesterol had a 37% lower death rate for Covid-19 than non-users.
Regular users of cholesterol medications have also dramatically reduced their risk of leaving the house, checking into the intensive care unit (ICU), or developing blood clots. Additionally, they used the artificial respirator less frequently and stayed in the hospital for shorter lengths of time.
While Covid-19 causes inflammation, in some cases, the immune system causes more inflammation by responding strongly to the infection.
This extreme reaction hurts the body in numerous ways, including by making breathing difficult and harming the lungs, kidneys, heart, brain, and blood vessels.
Medication that lowers cholesterol may reduce the chance of death from the Corona virus.
