The future of American democracy is a cause for concern, according to US Vice President Joe Biden, who also emphasised that taking these challenges seriously will make them less dangerous.
The American “Axius” news website pointed out that Biden’s comments come after the FBI warned that some American states, especially those that will witness more severe electoral battles, may face election workers threats during the midterm elections to be held in November Next.
In his remarks, Biden said that “the spirit of the state centres around the belief that justice, respect, and honesty are (qualities) present in the majority of members of the American people,” as quoted by “Axios.”
Biden stated: “We’ve been through this (the circumstance) before. We are witnessing one of the historical turns, as we have reached a point where we are witnessing a great division,” adding that nothing comes automatically with regard to democracy.
“In 2020, for example, who appeared to vote were more than ever in American history… and I think they will do it again,” said Biden, expressing confidence that Americans will turn out to the polls in November.
