Barnes, Toney campaign in Northeast Wisconsin

(WBAY) – Green Bay, Wisconsin Two candidates for statewide offices were in Northeast Wisconsin on Monday with only 15 days until the election.
The Democratic contender for the U.S. Senate from Wisconsin, Mandela Barnes, visited Green Bay to introduce his “Win for Wisconsin Tour” and address some of the disparaging campaign commercials between him and the incumbent, Ron Johnson.
“I can handle it, in actuality. I put my name on the ballot.

But I’m more frustrated for the people that Ron Johnson is trying to continue to marginalize, the working people he wants to leave behind, the young people whose future is dependent on this election cycle, because people like Ron Johnson who don’t think climate change is real,” Barnes said.
Johnson had a 6-point advantage over Barnes in the most recent Marquette University Law School poll conducted earlier this month among potential voters.

That contrasts sharply with the August survey, which gave Barnes a 7-point advantage against Johnson.
Eric Toney, the district attorney for Fond du Lac, also visited Green Bay while running for state attorney general. Toney claims that there is a backlog of more than a thousand referrals for online crimes against children at the state Department of Justice. He asserts that he made two requests for public records and that Attorney General Josh Kaul has not refuted the assertion. The DOJ is silent on the subject.

Additionally, Toney claims that the DOJ’s open posts have an effect on local police enforcement.
Because parents and families deserve to know that we have an attorney general who will keep our families safe and use all available resources to keep our communities secure, we need an attorney general who will prioritise safeguarding families and public safety here in Wisconsin.

According to Kaul’s campaign, Toney is attempting to divert attention away from his pledge to give abortion ban enforcers more power. The statement read in part, “Wisconsinites deserve an A. G. who understands issues before weighing in on them publicly and who doesn’t play politics with important public safety issues. . ..

Eric Toney is obviously trying to divert attention from his ability to empower roving abortion ban enforcers by allowing district attorneys to go outside of their county to bring charges against medical professionals under Wisconsin’s harsh 1849 abortion ban.
