Travelling this winter? Here’s how to save as global inflation runs hot

Canadians wanting to escape the cold this winter will be attempting to save during the busiest travel period as global inflation remains strong.
It is definitely expensive for Canadians right now because of high inflation and steadily rising interest rates, yet even after more than two years of immigration restrictions, many people still want to leave.

According to Macca Shirifi of the travel site An Adventurous World, hotels are now frequently less expensive than private accommodations like an Airbnb rental because those prices significantly increased during the pandemic.
When travelling within Canada, Shirifi also recommends opting for a shorter three to four-day trip over a longer two-week trip when looking towards a budget-friendly vacation.

When purchasing tickets for domestic flights, there is a sweet spot of about two months before departure, which might save Canadians up to 40% on airfare prices, according to Melanie Fish, an Expedia spokesman.
Fish advised Canadians to book at least three months in advance for international travel because booking too soon or too late might not result in the same discounts.

A recent report from Expedia also recommends booking flights on Sundays to save up to 15 per cent, and said that Fridays are the cheapest day to travel, saving passengers up to 20 per cent on flights within Canada.
Domestic flights leaving on Thursday are also a fantastic choice, the research suggested, offering savings of about 10%.
